修羅の花

Shura no Hana [修羅の花] is the theme song of Lady Snowblood (Shurayukihime 1972) and is sung by the film's lead femme fatale Kaji Meiko (梶芽衣子).

On a dead morning, a burial of snow falls.
The howling of a stray dog and the sound of geta (wooden clogs) break the silence.
I walk with the weight of the heavens on my mind.
Embracing the darkness of the night, with a patterned (wooden) umbrella in hand,
Treading the path of a woman's life, tears falling to the ground throughout the journey.

Following the twisting river, the path leads me far by the lamplight.
The frozen cranes cannot move, weeping rain and wind.
The ice of the frozen pond reflects the silhouette of a woman's hair.
If only I could not show my tears, with a patterned (wooden) umbrella in hand.
Treading the bitter path of a woman,

Kaji Meiko- Urami bushi lyrics

梶 芽衣子 (- Kaji Meiko) Meiko Kaji was born in 1947.03.24. Chiyoda, Tokyo under the name Masako Ota. She began to work at Nikkatsu studio 1965. In the beginning of 1970 she was cast in some Stray Cat Rock series directed by Yasuharu Hasebe under the new name Meiko Kaji. In 1971 she went to Toei where she met director Shunya Ito and made four films in the brilliant Female Prisoner Scorpion series which made her famous throughout Japan. The story was adapted by a manga by Toru Shinohara.
In 1973 she played Yuki in the fantastic Kazuo Koike's manga based revenge-themed film Lady Snowblood, which later became a cult film in the West, thanks to Quentin Tarantino, who used her theme song Uram bushi in the film Kill Bill 1-2.
She appeared in some Kinji Fukasaku's films, like Yakuza Graveyard (1976).
1978 she starred in Yasuzo Masumura's Sonezaki Shinju for which she earned nomination for Best Actress at five different award shows, and won four of them.

Akeboshi

Name: 明星嘉男 /Akeboshi Yoshio
Birth date: 1978. July 1. Yokohama
He is a Japanese pop/folk singer. At the age of thirteen he learned to play the piano, later to play the guitar. He studied music in Liverpool, his time there influenced his music.
He may known for the song "Wind", which is the ending theme of the anime Naruto (the first twenty-five episodes).
He is one of my favourite musicians!
